Great Sand Seas 010

For Sale

This is a fabulous looking Howardite.  Howardites are compacted broken bits of various bodies and are considered to be the soil of asteroids.  They have a spectral resemblance to the asteroid Vesta and may be from that body.   The Great Sand Seas 010 meteorite was found by Alain Carion in 1996.  An estimate of the total weight is about 500 grams.  A final classification and official name have not yet been completed, but it is obviously a howardite.  Look at the beautiful fresh black crust with flow lines.  You may find cheaper howardites, but you will not find a nicer one.   This piece weighs 6.0 grams.  Price is $6000.00
